Goth Ball at the Wild Onion

Hestia my Inner Goth and I would like to extend a warm invitation to the first annual Wild Onion Halloween Goth Ball. We hope you can make it!

Let me offer you some sartorial possibilities for this occasion--

Ladies, the ever classic mixed metaphor late-Victorian-Goth-Lolita look:

And for the gents (I know, I know, Sarge cracked up when he saw this and my sister commented that it was "Cinnabon Goth"--a reference to Azrael Abyss and Circe Nightshade)--but humor me, won't you:

If you don't care for the Cinnabon Goth look, feel free to break out your black jeans and cloaks...

We'll snack on these:

And of course partake of the lovely absinthe ritual!

And when we're very well oiled, and possibly hallucinating, we'll dance

To this!

But it's pot-luck, so what music, snacks, entertainment, or drinks will you bring along to the Goth Ball?

  3. Sisters of Mercy.

I hear the sons of the city and dispossessed

    Get down, get undressed

Get pretty but you and me,
We got the kingdom, we got the key
We got the empire, now as then,
We don't doubt, we don't take direction,

Lucretia, my reflection, dance the ghost with me...

  5. Lucretia. OH MY GOD YES PERFECT. Into the playlist it goes.

Brian, I think the black outfit with the little knickers is actually kinda hot! Am I in a minority of one here?

Cece, I have lately been contemplating a new hair color. Perhaps black?

  8. Yum, clove cigarettes. How well I remember that rich smell. Haven't had one in ages. And patchouli--that scent crosses genres efficiently, doesn't it!

    Hi Maude!

  9. OMG, I am SO with Megan on SOM. I LOVE that song. Alkaline Trio did a great cover of it, too. I vote for that song.

And I like the dress with the bustle. There's just something about a bustle. And high topped boots with tiny buttons all down the side. And a whip... And... Oh, a whip isn't very goth, is it?

  10. Tarot cards. Candles. Black nail polish (for both sexes). Chameleons U.K. "Swamp Thing".

And lots and lots and LOTS of silver jewelry.

Jeez Leah I haven't even read your post yet - got to get over there...

  12. Name: Tempest. Wardrobe: black, with accents of white. Lots of antique silver jewelery, with some garnets. Platinum white-blonde hair, Teased generously, but then swept up from the face in a tight chignon. A whip. I know, not as goth as it should be, but definitely effective. black cherry lipstick, harshly sculpted cheekbones.

The bass player from Killing Joke.

    What? My favorite accessory!

And several, several cats. A goblet of blood red wine. A rich Cabernet.

I'm really starting to get into this fantasy. I like it!

    Great idea, Leah!

  13. I just went to a Halloween party where the host served vodka-spices-concord grape juice cocktail with giant chilled concord grapes at the bottom. Pretty Goth.

Well I thought I had the perfect Victorian goth outifit, until I saw that first dress :o

If only it was a real ball :( no one I know like dressing up like that! I would be there in a flash, absynthe in hand :D

  16. Abi, that sounds wonderful. Too bad you can't come over the pond to my birthday party this year, I'm going to force everyone to come in Victorian Goth drag...

  17. Damn! I missed it. I'll post a photo of what I dressed up as to give out candy on Halloween. I think I would fit right in at this party!
