What are you eating?

Okay, I'm on a soapbox now because I saw this documentary last night. I think Suzanne has the right idea being a vegetarian. You know, with all the technology they have these days why can't they make a tomato taste like a steak? They can grow a chicken faster than they did in the 1950s.

You'll never look at dinner the same way again.

I can't watch it because I'll never be able to eat again.

I can't look at it either but I'm quite sure I agree.

We're trying for cruelty-free mindful meat, eggs, milk and cheese purchases here, but frankly I feel sad that my little actions won't help phase out factory farming...

Megan, maybe you NEED to see it!

Leah, your actions are more powerful than you think. What if you and 20 of your friends started doing things differently, and they told 20 friends who also did the same, and those 20 told more...you get the idea.

I know what it's about. I've watched it and read so much more over the years. Unfortunately I'm very well educated. Breaks my heart. When you read Organic Gardening, Peta and Mother Jones it's hard to ignore. It's unbelieveable what's being done to this planet, people, animals and plants. I walk past a beautiful home with T-Bone when we go on our jaunts and always slow down, look and smile. The owner's have a small victory garden using 1x12's next to their garage and behind their rose garden. It's beautiful all the time. It's about 4'x 10-12',not that big but filled to the brim with gorgeous kale, various swiss chards, carrots, various cool season lettuce, and I think broccoli. It's so, so beautiful to look at, just visually. We always stop to see what's going on in the mini garden and I imagine the wonderful meals because I pay close attention and one or two items are always missing, but something's planted in it's place in a day or two. I love that little garden. I'll take a photo for all of you. Maybe if we all just took baby steps. I've gardened like that before and after see this little beauty, I'm about to start again. You can garden in old milk jugs on a balcony. Shepard's Seeds has the greatest cut and come again lettuce seed mixtures. If anyone needs info, just let me know.

You know Cece's kids eat chicken. THEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE CHICKEN. We were talking about it one day and I was surpirsed to learn she only buys organic or chicken that is raised humanely. She knows what goes on in factory farms. Made me happy.

Thanks for this one RC. Well done! Big hug.

RC, that is awesome advice. Awesome. It starts small. People sometimes don't realize the power they have. Get over here and let me give you a big old smooch and hug!!!!

I attempt to buy foods that are as healthy as you can get for the boys. I believe that all of the steroids and added stuff to our foods is causing the excessive numbers of cancers, obesity, hormonal imbalances and other diseases that are prevalent in this country and abroad. I am considering a vegetable garden this summer, I'll just have to figure out how the keep the dogs from lying and digging in it.
