Field Trip
Let's play hooky--or rather, I'm playing hooky today, and I'd like you all to join me.
We'll cab it up to the Museum of Modern Art (hey, money's no object today) to see the exhibit, Tangled Alphabets. We'll get a little culture, and then hightail it to the museum cafe. Check out the menu and tell me what you're going to have for lunch! My treat.
Then we'll all catch cabs back to work/home. Again, my treat. Do you think we could persuade a cabbie to go to California/Florida/Arkansas/Australia? I bet we could.

I am soooo there, Leah!
I'm having something with lots of cheese on it.
I'll have something light and not too spicy. I'm still on the mend from my food poisoning.
Hi guys!
I'm back. It was wonderful.
Let's pretend we're still there snacking.
Cece, I totally had something with lots of cheese. And iced Hibiscus tea.
Okay. Get ready. I don't mess around when it comes to art and food.
First, the art is beautiful. I feel very connected to both artists because I have notebooks filled with letters. How odd. I wasn't aware of either artist. Thank you my darling. I learned I am not alone with my alphabet fettish. Who knew!!!??? Okay, now for my favorite thing about going to a museum. You know, beside art. FOOD!!!
I will start with marinated olives if someone will share this 1st course with me. It's probably a lot of olives. I would also like a glass of Pinot Grigeo and the Caprese Salad. I will share if someone is interested. I would then like the Three Cheese with Lemon Basil Panini and a glass of lemonade please. And to finish it off, I will have a Latte with the Flourless Chocolate Torte w/ Espresso Sabayon.
Yes of course I will ask for extra forks and we can all share. But the Latte's all mine. I love a good Latte. God, I'm so full I can hardly hail a cab. Leah, do I have to leave the city yet? Can I see a show too? Then can I stay in a pretty hotel? No one else seemed to order any food, so you saved lots of money to splurge on me. Right? Here comes my cab, gotta go.
XO Great day! What fun.
P.S. Just so you know I bought a print on your dime and also the book because there's nothing better than free stuff.
hey, i'm late because of the time difference..........
or maybe i'm way in front?
i like the chocolate torte with sabayon, good choice suze
as for mains, well, i'm not sure theres so much to choose from!
a cab home from new york sounds divine!
Suzy, I totally had the three cheese with lemon basil panini this afternoon! It was so delicious. Also a lovely tomato and olive salad, with anise seeds in it.
I think the chocolate torte is a good choice too.
Well, while Kylie's floating home, let's discuss that panini. PAAAAAAALEASE. Too delicious. We have to learn how to make that ourselves. They didn't show a photo. That's sorta cheating. Now see, I never saw the tomato and olive salad with anise. I would have ordered that. You know me, tomatoes and olives. Makes me wacky.
Of course the chocolate torte is good. It comes with espresso. You nuts?! Oh, and then if you order the Latte, you get the double wammy. Life is often just too damn good. God, thank you.
I'm in an upscale hotel. Right? Where?
Sambuca, please.
I Googled "Three cheese with lemon basil panini." Then hit images. OH. MY. GOD!!! I found so many insane recipes, so many beautiful photos, so many gorgoeous blogs. There are just too many talented cooks. I love how one chef described a panini "...bascialy just a glorified grilled cheese sandwich!" That's funny. But certainly simplifies something that sound so complicated.
Leah, this was too much fun. Thanks.
Love you. XO
I just had to Google Sambuca. No idea what it is. I'm obviously not a drinker!!! Megan, you nutty? You have that entire menu and you order a freakin' Sambuca? Leah, can I have more olives please? Oh, I'll also take another latte with you know what! Can I also get another Sambuca for you know who? Thanks.
XO
Yay!!! I'm in... I need to get away so badly...
